FestivalsGaby PeytonComment

The countdown is here!  Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival is right around the corner, 16 days until the start of the festival if we’re being exact, but hey, who’s counting? That being said, it’s safe to assume that Okeechobee festival goers are gearing up for an unforgettable weekend, but with this being Okeechobee’s first year taking place, there may be a lot of uncertainty among festival attendees. That’s where I come in to help fill in the blanks AND give you a rockin’ playlist to enjoy over the next couple of weeks, and on your adventure down!

For those who may not be aware, Okeechobee (let's refer to it as OMF as well, for the purposes of this article) is a brand new festival taking place in the heart of Okeechobee, FL. Being a first year event, there is a lot of anticipation and excitement swarming the festival, whether it be because of its incredible lineup or because of all that the festival has to offer, there is a lot of buzz circulating on this event. See for yourself what the hype is all about, check out the lineup poster below.

Now, let's get to the fun stuff! Okeechobee seems to be a 2-part festival ground. One part being the Sunshine Grove and the other called the Moonlight Oasis.

The Sunshine Grove- Also being referred to as the Grove, is home to the 3 main stages: Be, Here, Now.

Performances will be open:

  • Fri 3/4 & Sat 3/5: 12 PM- 3 AM
  • Sun 3/6: 12 PM – 12:30 AM

PoWow!: The PoWow! is an unique event being orchestrated by Okeechobee. Featuring a stellar lineup, the PoWow was designed to focus on reinterpretations of classical music and give it a modern day flare to create a huge dance party.

Check out the lineup poster below and read more here.

The Moonlight Oasis- For the wanderer. Check out what all is in the moonlight oasis, below.

Jungle 51: Jungle 51 is for all my people that just don’t want the party to end. Jungle 51 is the same concept as Bonnaroo’s popular, Kalliope. With bass and music cranking all night, and a stage set-up that is out of this world (seriously, check it out on the link below), Jungle 51 will keep the party going all day and night.

Performances will be open:

  • Thurs. 3/3, Fri 3/4 & Sat 3/5: 9 PM - 9 AM
  • Sun 3/6: 2 PM - 2 AM

Aquachobee:  Most importantly to be known as, the BEACH! The daytime hang out for the tropical soul. You can swim, relax in the sun, enjoy live music on the waterside stage, or take a ride on the ferris wheel. Check out the Aquachobee bar which serves a variety of delicious treats, ranging from fruit smoothies to the fruitiest of cocktails.

Thursday kick-off party for 4-day ticket holders: Performance by the Okeechobee Allstars featuring Oteil Burbridge (Dead & Company), Roosevelt Collier (The Lee Boys), Jeremy Salken (Big Gigantic) and other special guests.

Performances will be open:

  • Thurs. 3/3: 5 PM - 9 PM

Chobeewobee Village: For the night owl and the insomniac or even the friend who just doesn’t want to quit exploring. Chobeewobee Village is not only fun to say, but has late-night performances, a FIRE BREATHING IRON SNOWMAN (!!!), and an open invitation for mingling and whatever other weird shenanigans the creatures of the night may find. It appears to be less of a party than Jungle 51, but still entertaining enough for that restless soul.

Performances will be open:  Fri. 3/4, Sat. 3/5 and Sun 3/6: 9 AM – 6 PM

Yogachobee: For the early riser and the spiritual soul. The place to grab a smoothie or massage (YES, MASSAGE) at dawn, and host to a variety of workshops, Yogachobee encourages spiritual stimulation from dusk to dawn.
