Close The Hatch, the sludge doomers from Dayton, OH, have released their fifth EP, Death and Resistance on Red Moth Records. The four-track EP showcases the band’s talent with clean guitar work, strong percussion, hard hitting rhythms and the intricate weaving of their roaring vocals.
Rewind to June 2015, Close The Hatch had 90% of their equipment stolen putting the band in a questionable state. With no instruments, tour dates were cancelled and studio time was put on hold forcing the band into hiatus. However, with the aid of crowdsourcing and donations from fans and fellow musicians, the band was able to rebuild and forge ahead. The subsequent product of this struggle; Death & Resistance.
Exclaim.CA shares Death & Resistance “simply crushes, with powerful doom rhythms.”
Claiming themselves as “just guys who make noise,” is quite the understatement. Established in 2011, Close The Hatch has since released 5 EPs and have shared the stage with Weedeater, Dillinger Escape Plan, Royal Thunder and Windhand & the Faceless. With Death & Resistance as their heaviest release to date, it’s something you don’t want to overlook.
