June in Pop Punk

Pop Punk, NewsMollie SmithComment

June was a busy, emotional and exciting month for pop punk kids. From new music being leaked to old favorites breaking up, there were plenty of ups and downs. So order a pizza, sit down with your friends and let’s get straight into it.

Yellowcard Announces Split

After 19 years of touring and recording, our favorite pop punk band with a violin is calling it quits. In a heartfelt statement to fans, the band announced that after their upcoming world tour and the release of a new album, they will break up.

The statement included: “After countless discussions and months of thought, we have decided that it is time for Yellowcard to come to an end. This will be our last album and our final world tour.”

The U.S. leg of the farewell tour starts in October, but you can check them out all summer long on the Vans Warped Tour.

Vans Warped Tour 2016

Speaking of the punk rock summer camp, the Vans Warped Tour kicked off this past week in Dallas, TX. Headliners include Good Charlotte, New Found Glory, State Champs and The Story So Far.

After Kevin Lyman had to issue an official warning to bands trying to “cheat” their way to play at Warped Tour, we are interested to see how this summer pans out. Wishing them a smooth 22nd year on the road!

Blink-182 “California” Album Leaks

This is one of the most highly-anticipated albums in the genre. Although it’s set to release on July 1, many of the album’s songs were leaked, and loads of fans got a sneak preview. Many have been expressing their delight with the new tunes, which is extra exciting since this is Matt Skiba’s first album with the band.

People seem to be pretty impressed with Skiba’s performance on the album, so we are definitely looking forward to hearing the whole thing! Stay tuned for a review.
