As I’ve grown up, I’ve learned that I like a lot of different types of music. I’ve also come to learn that what I’m listening to really depends on where I’m at in life. Whether it’s just a stage, or full-fledged fandom, my music taste has always been constantly growing and changing. I do find that sometimes I hear a band that flashes me back to a certain point in my life. It’s not that the band sounds exactly like something I’ve heard before, but they bring a certain sense of nostalgia for me with their music. I love that. I love to revisit bands and artists that I loved at one time. In this instance, I found a band that brings me back to my days in high school and the beginning of college. Friday Giants is a band that brings back a lot of nostalgia for me, but at the same time, is making a name for themselves, and has become a constant band that I listen to.
Friday Giants began in late August of 2013. The band has gone through quite a few lineup changes over the years, but has really hit their stride with their current lineup. Friday Giants is made up of Gavin Bonar (Vocals), Chuck Ralenkotter (Guitar/Vocals), Kyle Rhodes (Guitar/Vocals), Zac Taylor (Bass/Vocals) and Logan Boatright (Drums). While each member has brought their own unique dynamic to the band, the band’s friendship amongst its members has always been consistent.
Without the friendship that Friday Giants possess, the band may not be present anymore. But I’m sure glad that they are, and their upcoming debut album “Twenty Nothings” reflects the time it took Friday Giants to get to where they are today both as a band, and as friends. Be sure to check out Friday Giants’ lead single off the album, “What You’re Made Of”.
